In 2004, the Cambridge Physician recruitment team was looking for doctors all over Canada. One of their many national adverts caught the eye of a Saskatchewan doctor. Dr Takhar, originally from UK, had practiced in small town Saskatchewan for eight years and was looking for something new. She had recently expanded her Family practice to include cosmetic procedures. Although business was good in Saskatchewan, she knew that at some time she would have to relocate to a bigger centre. Cambridge came calling at just the right time.
“I was always the type to be interested in new technology and especially advances in cosmetic medicine” says Takhar. Because she had done most of her cosmetic training in Ontario she decided that this was the place. After some time in Preston, she opened the doors of ‘Dr Takhar’s Cosmetic Clinic’. Located in the brand new Canamera Medical Centre, this state of the art clinic was a fi rst for Cambridge. Immediately the clinic was fully booked with people looking for procedures from botox to laser hair removal. Most importantly patients wanted a safe, professional setting in which to get honest realistic advice. And this is exactly what her clinic offers. “Cosmetic Surgery is an excellent choice and remains the gold standard for many conditions, however most people want to avoid going under the knife as long as possible” says Takhar.

This year she is headed to Cancun to speak for a leading cosmetic company.
One of the most exciting developments this year is the result of the staff’s trip to Miami. There they met with Dr. Kalil’s team and learned about the VI Peel. Dr. Takhar also added a Tattoo removal laser to the clinic’s inventory of equipment. After visiting Los Angeles and Miami to compare various lasers, she consulted with several experts. The conclusion was that the Medlite is by far the most superior laser in the industry and the most cost effective way to remove tattos.
All the advances in technology and procedures make it a very exciting time for the clinic as well as the people of Kitchener-Waterloo region.
